This rod fits snugly between the entry level launch/Fli models & the top Z-axis/TCX models. It as smooth as you can get and is just about 100% perfect if you are learning to cast. It is extremely forgiving while at the same time generating high line speed and a very accurate/delicate presentation. If you are in a dilemma about which Fly Rod to buy as a novice angler then we highly recommend this one. THE REEL

This is an excellent all-around trout reel that balances extremely well with today's lightweight 5- and 6-weight trout rods. At only 5 1/2 ounces in weight, the 2050 reel is light enough to cast from first light to dark with ease. With the help of sophisticated computer design software, Sage's engineers have increased the rigidity and durability of both the spool and frame while decreasing weight. The unique floating tripod graphite drag system screams high performance and is completely sealed from the elements. It comes with a protective neoprene case and is compatible with 1600, 1800, and 2000 Series spools.
